Providencia, again

Providencia moved out of its space on Cabrera and is on Arévalo now, just half a block from where it was.

I stuck my head in yesterday. The new place is fine. It's nice. It's great.

But . . . like . . . it looks like an actual restaurant now! With tables and chairs outside. And . . . and . . . the door open!

I said hello to the woman behind the counter. When she told me what the hours of operation were, my first thought was not, "Huh, you're going to be open for breakfast?" but rather "Wow! You're going to have actual hours of operation?"

hi dan.

my name is micah and i found your blog via wobbly librarian. she's a friend of some friends of mine.

i saw a "dan in argentina" link on her page and very excitedly clicked to find your blog. i say "very excitedly" because i am going to be in argentina for almost the entire month of may! i am leading a group of 9 students over there to do some artsy stuff, learn about the country, make new friends, etc.

the entire team is absolutely thrilled to be heading down to argentina! none of us have ever been before and some have never even stepped onto a plane! great times are to be had, indeed.

if you have time, and if you don't mind, i would love to hear your story on how you ended up in buenos aires and any other random things that come along.

blessings to you.

Micah - Thanks for the comment. Scroll down and take a look at some of the blogs linked off of my page. Three of the five are in English and about Buenos Aires.

In 2001 and 2003, I took trips down here. In 2005 I left my job in Chicago to move here because I had fallen in love with the place. The love affair isn't over, but it's going to be a long-distance relationship for the foreseeable future, since I move back to the States on Monday.

As for other random things, while I would never actually suggest that anyone read my blog, there are 197 posts on here and they're nothing if not random. I started the blog hoping to at least partially answer a question I got all the time: "What's Buenos Aires like?"

There's no one answer to the question, but some hints at possible answers are here somewhere, though you might have to sift through a lot of navel-gazing and rambling tangents to find them.

In any case, maybe an answer to that question is the last thing you need, since you'll see for yourself what it's like soon enough. Enjoy your trip.

John - It looks like you just took care of that. Thanks.
